Things to Do at Window of the World

Complete Guide to Window of the World in Shenzhen

About Window of the World

Window of the World is one of those wonderfully ambitious theme parks that could only exist in China - a place where you can see the Eiffel Tower, the Pyramids, and the Taj Mahal all in the same afternoon. Built in 1994, this 48-hectare park features over 130 miniature replicas of world-famous landmarks, scaled down to roughly 1:1 to 1:100 of their original size. It's unapologetically touristy, but that's actually part of its charm - there's something genuinely delightful about watching families pose dramatically in front of a half-size Statue of Liberty. What makes Window of the World more than just a collection of miniatures is the attention to detail and the cultural performances that happen throughout the day. You'll find folk dancers from various countries, traditional music performances, and even recreated villages that give you a sense of different cultures. Sure, it's a sanitized version of world travel, but for many visitors, particularly families with kids, it's an engaging way to spark curiosity about different places around the globe.

What to See & Do

European Section

Ancient Civilizations Area

Features impressive recreations of the Egyptian Pyramids, Roman Colosseum, and Angkor Wat. The pyramid has an interior you can explore, which is surprisingly atmospheric.

Asian Landmarks Zone

Showcases iconic structures like the Taj Mahal, Mount Fuji, and various temples. The attention to architectural details here is genuinely impressive, especially in the Japanese garden section.

Cultural Performance Stage

Hosts regular shows featuring traditional dances, music, and ceremonies from different countries. The schedule changes, but there's usually something happening every hour or so.

International Street

A shopping and dining area designed to represent different countries' architectural styles. It's touristy but fun, and you'll find decent international food options here.

Getting There

The park sits right at Window of the World Station. Take Line 1 or 2-you'll walk straight from the metro exit into the entrance without any navigating through streets or confusing signs. Downtown Shenzhen riders face a 30-40 minute trip. Traffic makes taxis unpredictable. The metro runs on schedule and drops you at the door, making it the better choice for most visitors.
